How Embarrassing!

My husband and I decided to put our house on the market. At the time we had lived in our "starter home" for 7 years. It was such an exciting time. Getting the house ready for showings and waiting on the edge of our seats to see if they would make an offer. Well the excitement wore off and 10 months later has become quite the chore. We have a great little home but no one can see the value because they are too busy complaining about the "busy" corner we live on. We can't do anything about where the house is located but I can control what it looks like inside. Every time someone comes to look at it I make sure it is spic and span...that is what I can control. So for the last 10 months showings are scheduled and I clean....that is the drill. Until the day....my Broker (whom we really do like a lot) messed up the date on a showing. He thought it Saturday but it was really Friday. We didn't clean. We didn't even pick up the house. We had not had a showing in 2 weeks so let's just say I had let it go just a bit. White dog hair on the dark carpets, more dog hair floating across the hardwood floors (he has been shedding like crazy) and toys and stuff everywhere. I thought I would share with you a couple pictures...

The first picture is the lovely first impression the eager house hunter saw when they walked in. The second picture is a view of the corner in my kitchen! Because everyone needs a clothes drying rack in the kitchen! Yikes! I was hoping my shirts would dry before the showing on SATURDAY! And these aren't even the worst of the pictures....some are too embarrassing to post.

Anyhow...the buyers need to sell their home but really didn't think there was anything wrong with the condition of the house. They must be looking at some beauties! Thanks for reading about my embarrassing moment!

  1. This is great! Hopefully the prospective buyer will understand that in the Northeast, we can't hang our clothes out to dry yet. The kitchen is a suitable place, right?

  2. Hope you get to sell soon. We are thinking of downsizing but are daunted by the thought of having to keep the house clean :(

Pics aren't so bad, you should see mine :) T.

  3. Love it! I work in Real Estate and there have been MANY times I have kicked a pair of underwear or bra under someones bed to save them from embarrassment! I have even thrown dishes from the sink in the dishwasher.

  4. Oh, that stinks! When we were house hunting, your photos looked spotless compared to some of the houses we were shown! I hope your house sells soon.
